S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl

The story of the 1986 nuclear reactor disaster in Chernobyl takes its course in the game through an imaginary event; a new explosion and the creation of an exclusion zone where anomalies occur.
. The game belongs to the genre of first-person shooters, but also has role-playing elements. It was announced back in 2001, but was not released until March 2007 - as "one of the most anticipated titles in gaming history."
The story is inspired by the novel Picnic by the Wayside by Arkady and Boris Strugazki, which was made into a film by Andrei Tarkovsky in 1979 under the title Stalker.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Clear Sky

The fictional story ties to the disaster of Chernobyl in 1986. Accordingly, in 2006 another explosion occurred in the sarcophagus of the fourth block of the decommissioned nuclear power plant. As a result, the environment - called The Zone in the game - was permanently changed. The action starts before the action of the previously released S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

The player takes on the role of a mercenary named Scar and receives an order from the scientists of the Clear-Sky faction to prevent the stalker Strelok (the main character of the first part) from reaching the center of the zone. The scientists fear that entering the immediate vicinity of the sarcophagus would trigger another big explosion...
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of Pripyat

The story picks up right after the end of Shadow of Chernobyl: After the stalker Strelok deactivates the brain melter, a device that is supposed to prevent entering the center of the zone through electromagnetically generated psychic stress, a large emission occurs that changes the entire zone. At the same time, numerous stalkers penetrate the the center.

. The government launches a large military operation called "Fairway" to bring the nuclear power plant in the center under its control. According to the operation plan, the first military unit is to conduct aerial reconnaissance and create a map showing all anomalies so that security forces can avoid them. But despite the thorough preparation, the operation fails: all the helicopters of the vanguard crashed...
